Josh Allen’s Take: Curtis Samuel’s Toughness and Keon Coleman’s Athleticism Stun

After practice this week, quarterback Josh Allen addressed the media about the Buffalo Bills’ performance during the 2024 NFL preseason.

“Our standards shouldn’t be based on our preseason results,” remarked, referring to the Bills’ recent loss to the Chicago Bears and the constant changes in the team roster.

Allen emphasized the importance of maintaining a playoff-level performance, a principle instilled by Bills head coach Sean McDermott. He stressed that team leaders are increasingly vocal, ensuring that everyone remains focused and motivated. “It’s a daily effort,” Josh Allen noted. “Everyone is working hard to improve.”

He also spoke highly of wide receiver Curtis Samuel, who joined the team this spring. “He’s a solid player, and defenders definitely feel his presence in practice,” Josh Allen said, praising Samuel’s physicality and noting his effective play in the game where he caught both passes thrown his way for 23 yards. “He’s quick—he makes plays downfield in no time.”

Josh Allen was equally complimentary about rookie wide receiver Keon Coleman. “He has an incredible ability to catch the ball at its highest point and excellent ball skills,” He said, expressing confidence in Coleman’s abilities. “It’s exciting to play with him—you can trust he’ll make a play even if you just throw it up.”

Josh Allen also highlighted Coleman’s effort to prevent a potential interception, demonstrating his commitment even when not catching passes.

Looking ahead, He mentioned the upcoming joint practice with the Pittsburgh Steelers, noting it will be a valuable learning experience. “It’s fun to pick their brains,” he said.

However, Josh Allen cautioned that Saturday’s game against the Steelers will be challenging. “We’ve faced them before, and they always provide a tough test,” he added.

The Bills are set to practice with the Steelers on Thursday, August 15, before their preseason game on Saturday at 7 p.m. EDT.
