BREAKING NEWS: Texans officially signs top veteran star on a multi-million dollar contract

Florida State’s latest wave of talent is poised to make a major impact in the NFL in 2024. It won’t be long before former Seminoles like Jared Verse, Trey Benson, and Keon Coleman become some of the league’s top emerging stars.

Cameron Erving reportedly set to sign with Houston Texans

In the meantime, a few players who wore the garnet and gold nearly a decade ago are still making their mark professionally. Earlier this month, the Houston Texans signed former Florida State offensive lineman and NFL veteran Cameron Erving to strengthen their offensive line.

Erving is set to begin his tenth NFL season. Drafted in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns, he will now join his sixth team, adding to his tenure with the Browns, Kansas City Chiefs, Dallas Cowboys, Carolina Panthers, and New Orleans Saints.

Erving recently made his preseason debut with the Texans in a 20-12 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he played 18 snaps and earned an overall grade of 56.2 from PFF. He is currently listed as the third-string right tackle on Houston’s depth chart.

Previously with the Kansas City Chiefs, Erving was part of the team that won Super Bowl LIV. Over his career, he has played in 98 games, starting 58 of them.

A Georgia native, Erving played college football at Florida State under former head coach Jimbo Fisher. Initially a defensive tackle, he switched to the offensive line and became a key player at left tackle, also demonstrating his versatility by starting at center in 2014.

Erving was a two-time first-team All-ACC selection, was part of the 2013 national championship team, and won the Jacobs Blocking Trophy twice, awarded to the ACC’s top blocker.
