Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has acknowledged that his team may not be fully prepared for their Premier League opener against Fulham. The Red Devils are set to face the Cottagers at Old Trafford on Friday (20:00 BST), but injuries and late arrivals have forced the Dutchman into some difficult decisions.
Although there is excitement around Manchester United’s new signings, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui, both players only joined the squad on Thursday. This has given Ten Hag limited time to integrate them, leading to concerns about their match readiness. The two defenders, acquired from Bayern Munich for nearly £60 million combined, are expected to be in the squad, but their limited training time could impact Ten Hag’s choices for the Fulham clash.
“The team is not ready but the league starts,” said Ten Hag, reflecting on the challenge ahead. “There are more managers who definitely have this problem but we have to make a start. We can’t hide from it. We can’t run away from it. We have to deal with it.”
