Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards has openly expressed that Kevin Durant is his favorite player. Edwards admitted that eliminating Durant’s team from the playoffs this year brought about conflicting feelings for him.
At Fanatics Fest on Saturday, Edwards participated in a panel moderated by Jalen Rose, where he was in high spirits. When Rose asked him about the experience of defeating Durant’s Phoenix Suns in the playoffs, Edwards couldn’t help but laugh, while Durant looked on with evident frustration.

“I’m not going to lie, I did feel a bit bad, especially because he’s my all-time favorite player,” Edwards admitted. “I didn’t want to end his season like that, but it happened. I felt bad.”
Edwards’ choice of words adds a humorous touch, especially considering that the Timberwolves not only beat the Suns but swept them out of the playoffs. Edwards likely anticipated a more competitive series, as did Durant. Over the course of the four-game sweep, Edwards averaged 31 points per game, and the Timberwolves effectively neutralized most of the Phoenix offense, aside from Durant and Devin Booker.
Durant can at least find some comfort in knowing that the series was more humiliating for one of his teammates than for him.
