LSU received a welcome boost on Sunday afternoon when four-star cornerback Kade Phillips announced he would be switching his commitment from Texas to the Tigers.
Phillips, who is from Missouri City, Texas, is a widely recognized four-star recruit for the 2025 class. According to On3, he is ranked as the No. 65 player overall and the No. 7 cornerback. However, ESPN and 247 have him ranked just outside the top-200. He also has offers from other top programs like Auburn, Michigan, Texas A&M, and Oregon.
Brian Kelly’s decision to rehire Corey Raymond has proven beneficial, as Raymond’s reputation for attracting top defensive back talent continues to pay off. With Phillips and DJ Pickett already committed, LSU has secured two of the top-7 cornerbacks for the 2025 class.
Phillips emphasized the significance of being coached by Corey Raymond in his decision, noting Raymond’s persistent support and daily communication.
With Phillips on board, LSU now has 24 commitments for the 2025 class, which remains securely in the top-three nationally.
