Dillingham mentioned that he aims to name a starting quarterback before classes begin on Thursday, and Sam Leavitt made a strong case during a scrimmage at Mountain America Stadium. Leavitt delivered several big plays and touchdowns, showcasing his potential.
Although he missed a few deep throws, Leavitt connected on enough intermediate passes to keep his group consistently moving down the field.
One highlight was Jordyn Tyson’s one-handed touchdown catch on a 30-yard pass from Leavitt, and later, Malik McClain found separation in the red zone for another touchdown.
In contrast, Jeff Sims struggled to find success through the air during the scrimmage and didn’t get as many opportunities as Leavitt or Trenton Bourguet, who led a few drives that resulted in field goals.
