Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports compiled a list of “10 NFL Players Who Could Be Traded Next,” including Malik Willis, who is currently the third-string quarterback for the Tennessee Titans. Willis was identified as a “potential fit” for both the Ravens and the Los Angeles Chargers.
Once seen as a possible successor to Ryan Tannehill, the former third-round pick has reportedly made progress as a passer this summer. However, he remains firmly in the No. 3 spot behind the emerging starter Will Levis and the new backup Mason Rudolph. Although the Titans likely still value his notable mobility at age 25, another team might offer him a chance to be a direct backup.
It would be intriguing to see if the Ravens invest some resources into their backup quarterback position. Josh Johnson is currently listed as the No. 2 quarterback on the Ravens’ roster, but at 38 years old, he may not be with the league much longer after 2024. This could make a trade for a backup quarterback a small yet significant move for the future of the Ravens’ backup QB role.
