BREAKING NEWS: Oklahoma State adds forward from Canada to 2024-25 roster

STILLWATER – Steve Lutz, head coach of the Oklahoma State has bolstered his 2024-25 roster by signing 6-foot-6 Canadian wing Mikey Kelvin II, a versatile perimeter player.

Kelvin, originally from Ottawa, played the past three seasons at Queens University in Ontario. He recently contributed to his team’s runner-up finish in Canada’s equivalent of March Madness, the USPORTS Final 8. Lutz commented, “Mikey is an outstanding young man who has thrived in top-tier Canadian university basketball. He’s tall, athletic, and a proficient three-point shooter. Despite only starting basketball in his junior year of high school, he’s already achieved significant success, including a run to Canada’s national championship game. We’re thrilled to welcome him to the Cowboy Family this year.”

Although Kelvin is new to NCAA basketball, he’s familiar with Lutz’s fast-paced playing style. Last season, he averaged 10.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks in Queens’ high-speed offense and was a prolific three-point shooter, making 2.1 threes per game at a 37.6% clip.

During his time at Queens, Kelvin played a key role in the program’s resurgence. The Gaels made three consecutive USPORTS Final 8 appearances (their first ever) and won the 2024 OUA Wilson Cup, marking their first conference title since 1957.

Kelvin is the ninth scholarship player added to OSU’s 2024-25 roster, all of whom are upperclassmen transfers. He will join returning players Connor Dow, Jamyron Keller, and Bryce Thompson.
