The Philadelphia Eagles have encountered significant challenges as they approach the 2024 season.
Despite reaching the Super Bowl two years ago, the Eagles were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs last year and have lost several key players. Among the most notable departures is Jason Kelce, a cornerstone of their offensive line.
Kelce was instrumental in executing the Eagles’ signature “tush push,” a quarterback sneak play that proved successful over 90% of the time.
To help fill the void left by the future Hall of Famer, the Eagles have brought in several new players, including Mekhi Becton.
Becton, who was the New York Jets’ first-round pick in 2020, was not retained by the team after missing the entire 2022 season due to injury.
The Eagles signed him at a reasonable cost, but, as reporter Jeff McLane recently noted, Becton sustained an injury during a team practice over the weekend.
Diagnosis on #Eagles RG Mekhi Becton, who left practice early with an apparent right leg injury, was that it’s nothing serious, per NFL sources.

McLane reported that the injury is “nothing serious,” according to his sources, so Becton is expected to return to action soon.
However, any missed time is critical, especially for an offensive lineman.
As Jalen Hurts and the rest of the offense aim to regain their form, it’s important for the team to spend as much time together as possible to develop chemistry.
Otherwise, the team may struggle to find momentum at the start of the season. With the NFC growing stronger, teams like the Eagles cannot afford a slow start.
