Some people believe the Buffalo Bills are not compensating Josh Allen fairly, but the quarterback himself disagrees.
Josh Allen signed a six-year, $258 million extension with the Bills in 2021. While this contract was substantial, it lags behind some of the recent quarterback deals. Josh Allen’s annual salary of $43 million places him 13th among quarterbacks, behind players like Kirk Cousins, Deshaun Watson, and Kyler Murray. Additionally, he ranks 11th in total guarantees.

Despite these figures, Josh Allen seemed unconcerned when addressing reporters after practice. Asked about being relatively “underpaid” compared to his peers, he responded with a smile, “Everyone’s going to have their day. I’m happy that everyone’s getting what they’re worth. As the game progresses and guys keep getting paid, the market is the market.”
Josh Allen expressed no issues with his current situation, noting, “I had my day a couple years ago, and I’m sure someday I’ll have it again.” He emphasized focusing on “the main thing”—his performance on the field—rather than financial matters.
Despite being a two-time Pro Bowler and finishing in the top five for MVP voting in three of the last four seasons, Josh Allen’s focus remains on winning rather than on increasing his net worth. Even Patrick Mahomes had his contract restructured to reflect the evolving quarterback market, but Allen seems more intent on boosting his win totals than his salary.
