In addition to trading PK Cade York earlier today, the Browns have made several other roster adjustments.
TE/FB Giovanni Ricci, who was signed to a one-year deal earlier this offseason, has had his contract terminated with an injury designation. If he clears waivers, the team can re-claim him and place him on IR. Ricci was aiming to secure a spot as a hybrid fullback/tight end, making some notable plays during the summer, including four catches for 32 yards against the Vikings, highlighted by a 17-yard catch-and-run. Unfortunately, Ricci sustained a knee injury during the game, and it’s been reported that he’ll likely be sidelined for several weeks.
Ricci has been in the NFL since 2020, mostly under future/reserve contracts and on practice squads after being signed as an undrafted free agent out of Western Michigan. He made three starts for the Panthers in 2022 and has nine receptions for 102 yards in his career.
To fill the void, the Browns have signed running back Jacob Saylors following Pierre Strong’s rib injury. Saylors (5’10”, 199 lbs) previously spent time with the Atlanta Falcons and Cincinnati Bengals and had a successful stint with the UFL’s St. Louis Battlehawks in 2024, where he ran for 461 yards on 94 attempts with five touchdowns. He also caught 23 passes for 152 yards and three touchdowns. Saylors played college football at East Tennessee State.
