In the final preseason game for the Buffalo Bills, there are just four quarters left before the long wait for the regular season ends. The outcome of this game is irrelevant; what’s crucial is that the team emerges from it as healthy as possible. Over the past two weeks, the team has suffered numerous injuries, impacting various positions and forcing Brandon Beane to sign additional players just to fill out the roster for the preseason. Notably, players like Mitch Trubisky and Marquez Valdes-Scantling might miss some regular-season games if they don’t fully recover.
The Bills’ offense has struggled throughout the preseason, failing to score a touchdown and managing only 15 points from five field goals. They’ve only had three genuine red zone opportunities and couldn’t convert any into touchdowns. Conversely, the defense has shone, particularly in their game against Pittsburgh, thanks to standout performances from Buffalo native linebacker Joe Andreessen.
As the Bills get ready to conclude their preseason against the Carolina Panthers, several players will be making their final appearance at Orchard Park. Roster cuts are imminent, and this game could be the last chance for many players to showcase their skills before facing the difficult reality of being cut.
Buffalo Bills urged to cut ties with linebacker Deion Jones
David Kenyon from Bleacher Report suggested that the Buffalo Bills should consider cutting linebacker Deion Jones before Week 1 of the regular season. While Kenyon’s point about the impact of injuries is valid, the front office is unlikely to make decisions that will require reassessment once starters return. Given that Matt Milano is expected to miss a significant portion of the season, the Bills may look to add more linebacker depth, which could work in Jones’ favor.
However, Jones has been relatively unremarkable during training camp and the preseason. Last week, Joe Andreessen took the spotlight with his strong performance against the Steelers, making a case for himself to climb higher on the depth chart. If Jones doesn’t make a notable impact in the upcoming game against his former team, his time with the Bills could be coming to an end.
