Donovan Edwards’ decision was driven by his desire to lead the Wolverines, where he was recently named one of four team captains alongside injured safety Rod Moore, safety Makari Paige, and fullback Max Bredeson.

During a press conference on Thursday, Donovan Edwards expressed his admiration for former Michigan captains Aidan Hutchinson and Josh Ross, both from Michigan, as role models for his own leadership style.

He highlighted their straightforward approach and their ability to demand high standards from their teammates, recalling how they were direct in their expectations during the challenging 2-4 season.

Donovan Edwards praised the leadership of Hutchinson and Ross, noting how their example helped the 2021 freshman class succeed, leading to a Big Ten Championship and a College Football Playoff appearance. He feels that his current team is building upon the strong foundation laid by these past leaders.
