Another Trade Looming: Golden State Warriors Desperate to Secure Star Player to Fill Final Roster Spot

The Golden State Warriors have almost wrapped up their offseason, filling their roster with competitive players to make another championship push. Although Klay Thompson left for the Dallas Mavericks, the Warriors brought in Buddy Hield, De’Anthony Melton, and Kyle Anderson during free agency to add key depth alongside Stephen Curry and Draymond Green. With just one roster spot left, the Warriors have invited several veterans for workouts, including Brazilian star Bruno Caboclo.

Caboclo is currently weighing an offer from Hapoel Shlomo Tel Aviv in Israel, but he is also practicing with the Warriors this week in hopes of securing another NBA contract, as reported by Sports Channel in Israel. His agent, Daniel Hazan, noted that Caboclo will be training with Golden State until Thursday, aiming to lock down a spot with the team.

Selected 20th overall in the 2014 NBA Draft by the Toronto Raptors, Bruno Caboclo began his NBA journey in the 2014-15 season, playing for multiple teams until the 2020-21 campaign. Since then, he has not returned to the NBA, choosing instead to compete in the NBA G League, as well as in Brazil and Serbia.

This summer, Caboclo represented Brazil at the Summer Olympics in Paris, France, where he led the national team, averaging 17.3 points and seven rebounds per game, with impressive shooting percentages of 60.5% from the field and 54.5% from beyond the arc over four games. Despite Brazil’s 1-3 record and a quarterfinal exit against the United States, Caboclo showcased his talent by scoring 30 points and grabbing six rebounds in the matchup against Team USA.

Standing 6-foot-9, Caboclo is confident that he belongs in the NBA, and the Golden State Warriors seem like a great fit. With a need for frontcourt depth and experience, the Warriors may also be influenced by the presence of Gui Santos, another Brazilian national team member who shares a strong connection with Caboclo. This relationship might have played a role in the Warriors’ decision to offer him a workout, and they could be seriously considering inviting Caboclo to their training camp next month for a chance to earn a roster spot.
