BREAKING NEWS: Nebraska veteran announces departure from team citing desire for new opportunities and challenges ahead.

It’s well-known that several top recruits from the 2025 class have already made their commitments. However, a few standout players, including Christian Jones, remain available.

Jones, a four-star linebacker and one of only four from the Top247 still uncommitted, is concentrating on his upcoming season with Westside High School rather than on his recruitment process.

“The main thing is just focusing on my team right now,” Jones said. “Westside football. I’m not really worried about anything else; my focus is on our game this Thursday. After that, I’ll be taking things one week at a time. As for recruiting, I plan to start getting a clearer idea of where I want to go soon.”

Jones will lead Omaha’s Westside High School in their season opener against Omaha North on Thursday night. This marks the beginning of his final year of high school football, a milestone he’s occasionally reminded of.

“I’ve been playing varsity for four years, so it always felt like I was a senior every year,” Jones said. “But now that all my upperclassmen friends are gone, it’s starting to feel different. It hits me sometimes that this is my last season before I head to college. My parents seem to feel it more than I do; I try not to dwell too much on the future.”

Regarding recruitment visits, Jones’ plans are still flexible due to some scheduling conflicts. Nonetheless, he will continue to keep an eye on college games throughout the season.
