The Philadelphia Eagles were actively exploring the possibility of trading James Bradberry, but those plans have been significantly impacted by a recent injury. During a practice session on Wednesday, Bradberry sustained a lower leg injury, which is expected to keep him out of action for approximately 6-8 weeks.
Bradberry, who has spent his NFL career as a cornerback, was in the process of transitioning to the safety position. The 31-year-old veteran had an impressive performance last season, recording 54 tackles and an interception over 16 regular-season games. His career accolades include a Pro Bowl selection in 2020 with the New York Giants and a second-team All-Pro nod with the Eagles in 2022.
Given the severity of the injury, it is highly likely that Bradberry will be placed on injured reserve, which would sideline him for an extended period. This development complicates the Eagles’ plans, as they were considering moving Bradberry as part of their roster adjustments.
The Eagles are set to kick off their season on Friday, September 6, against the Green Bay Packers in Brazil. The injury to Bradberry adds an unexpected challenge for the team as they prepare for their opening game.
