BREAKING NEWS: Eagles Sign Two Players to Fill Out Practice Squad

The Philadelphia Eagles made two official transactions on Sunday afternoon. Here’s a summary:

Wide receiver Griffin Hebert and tight end Kevin Foelsch have been added to the practice squad.
With these additions, the Eagles’ practice squad is now at full capacity (16 players, plus one international exemption).

Let’s break down this news by each player.

GRIFFIN HEBERT

Hebert (pronounced AY-bear) was waived by the Eagles earlier this week as the team reduced its roster from 90 to 53 players. He’s had a bit of an on-and-off relationship with the Eagles since first joining their practice squad last December (according to Pro Football Reference).

During training camp, Hebert had a few standout moments. He also led the Eagles in receiving during their preseason finale against the Minnesota Vikings, making three catches on three targets for 48 yards. Thirty-five of those yards came on a notable catch, which you can see here:

It’s beneficial to keep him around for added wide receiver depth.

Hebert is one of three wide receivers on the practice squad, complementing the five on the active roster. The team also has the option to activate rookie wideout Ainias Smith from injured reserve after he misses four games.

KEVIN FOELSCH

The Eagles initially brought in Foelsch (no relation to Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles) to add depth at tight end during training camp. He wrapped up the preseason with three receptions for 17 yards.

Foelsch is now one of three tight ends on the practice squad, along with two on the active roster. The team also has the option to activate Albert Okwuegbunam from injured reserve after he misses four games.
