21-Year-Old Star Reveals the Real Reason He’s Skipping Michigan State Football

21-Year-Old Star. One of the major offseason stories for Michigan State football was the surprising move by former Spartan defensive back Jaden Mangham, who decided to enter the transfer portal and commit to Michigan.

This decision understandably upset many Michigan State fans, but the focus has largely shifted since then—except for Mangham himself.

The 21-Year-Old Star In early August, Mangham spoke about his move to Michigan and unintentionally disrespected his former MSU teammates. Recently, Mangham revisited the topic of his transfer, but this time, he inadvertently cast a positive light on Michigan State and head coach Jonathan Smith.

Typically, players entering the portal might consider returning to their original school. We’ve seen such scenarios at Michigan State before, but that wasn’t an option for Mangham. According to him, Smith and Michigan State had “closed the door” on his return, regardless of his wishes.

I support Smith’s decision here. Mangham would likely have been a valuable addition this year, but there’s a significant difference between transferring and transferring to Michigan. Smith’s stance aligns with maintaining a high standard for the program, one that echoes the priority Mark Dantonio placed on beating Michigan, which contributed to the program’s past success. It seems Smith is continuing this approach, and I hope it brings similar positive outcomes.
