Kadyn Proctor was preparing to start at left tackle for Alabama football’s season opener. Although he participated in warmups, he didn’t complete them. He exited early, accompanied by the training staff, and when he returned, he was no longer in uniform. The injury appeared to be in his left upper body.
“It caught me off guard,” said Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer after the game. “He couldn’t play tonight. We’ll assess the situation tomorrow to determine the extent of the injury. We’ll have more information as the week progresses.”
Elijah Pritchett stepped in for Kadyn Proctor at left tackle, a position Pritchett had worked at during the spring. With Pritchett on the line, Alabama dominated Western Kentucky, winning 63-0 on Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
After the game, Proctor was seen leaving the field wearing a white shirt pulled over his left arm. He had secured the starting left tackle spot back in August after transferring back to Alabama from Iowa. Proctor had initially entered the transfer portal following Nick Saban’s retirement.
Pritchett, who primarily practiced at right tackle this fall and was listed as a potential starter alongside Wilkin Formby, was called upon to play left tackle on Saturday. If Proctor’s injury sidelines him, Pritchett is likely to continue in that role.
