Breaking News: Orioles Sign Top Prospect to Minor League Deal

Nick Anderson, 34, successfully passed his medical review and signed a minor league contract, with the news being confirmed by multiple sources late last night. He’s now headed to Norfolk, where he’s expected to take the mound in the coming days.

Tate’s departure has created an opportunity.

This could be a valuable addition for the Orioles, who have been interested in Anderson since his time as a reliever with the Rays from 2019-21. They expressed interest last month before he signed with the Dodgers.

Anderson has built a solid career, especially considering he was a 32nd-round draft pick out of Mayville State University in North Dakota and spent three seasons in the independent Frontier League. He’s appeared in 165 games, posting a 3.18 ERA and a 1.093 WHIP, with an average of 11.5 strikeouts per nine innings. Anderson didn’t pitch in the majors in 2022 after undergoing internal brace surgery on his right elbow.
