Eagles star player has been sidelined for the season opener following a severe injury sustained during training session

The Philadelphia Eagles are just days away from kicking off their season, but it looks like they’ll be missing one of their key reinforcements for the opener.

NFL insider Ari Meirov reports that the Eagles have decided to rule out linebacker Devin White for their matchup against the Green Bay Packers due to an ankle injury. White, who had been listed as a limited participant in Tuesday’s practice, couldn’t recover in time for the game.

White, a former Tampa Bay Buccaneer and 2019 first-round pick, signed a one-year deal with the Eagles in the offseason after spending his first five years in Tampa Bay.

Notably, White is the only member of the Eagles’ 53-man roster who will miss the opening game. Cornerback Isaiah Rodgers, who was limited in practice due to a hand injury, will be available to play.

Meanwhile, AJ Brown and Landon Dickerson were also in street clothes during Tuesday’s practice, but both are expected to play without limitations in the season opener.

Nick Sirianni’s squad is entering the season with a chip on their shoulder after losing six of their last seven games last season. With a roster brimming with talent, they have the potential to be one of the most dominant teams in the NFC.

Unfortunately for White, his Eagles debut will be delayed by at least a week.
