Hot Mic Drama: Reporter Slams Raiders’ Gardner Minshew in Shocking Slip-Up
The Las Vegas Raiders’ season started on a sour note with a 22-10 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in their opening week. The Raiders were unable to spoil the beginning of Jim Harbaugh’s tenure with the Chargers, who controlled the game and held Las Vegas to just two scoring drives. Harbaugh improved to 5-0 in season openers, tying the NFL record.
Following their rough loss to the Chargers, Raiders quarterback Gardner Minshew faced more criticism off the field. According to Total Pro Sports, a reporter was caught on a hot mic Wednesday harshly criticizing Minshew.
As Las Vegas prepares to face a tough Baltimore Ravens team on Sunday, at least one Raiders reporter seems pessimistic about their chances. In a hot mic moment, an unidentified beat reporter was overheard saying, “Gardner is going to get his a** kicked by Baltimore,” according to Dov Kleiman on X. It’s unclear if the team has identified the source of the comment.
Raiders’ QB Gardner Minshew will face a motivated Ravens defense Sunday
The Ravens enter Week Two after a 27-20 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Baltimore’s defense pressured Patrick Mahomes, sacking him twice and hitting him seven times. In contrast, Raiders quarterback Gardner Minshew was sacked once and hit five times during their loss to the Chargers. Minshew completed 25 of 33 passes for 257 yards with one touchdown and one interception, adding three carries for five yards.
Raiders coach Antonio Pierce named Minshew the starting quarterback after he outperformed Aidan O’Connell during the offseason. While Minshew’s teammates backed the decision, the quarterback situation remains “fluid,” meaning poor performance could lead to a change in the depth chart. It’s clear that at least one reporter has doubts about Minshew’s future with the team.
Minshew may be facing a tough challenge against the Ravens, but the Raiders’ Week One game against the Chargers wasn’t just rough on the field—it also featured fights on and off the gridiron. Chargers receiver Josh Palmer and Raiders cornerback Jack Jones were both ejected after a scuffle during a failed two-point conversion by LA late in the fourth quarter.
The rivalry extended into the stands, as Raiders and Chargers fans clashed in multiple brawls inside SoFi Stadium and in the parking lot, with videos of the altercations surfacing on social media.
