New Vibe in Michigan Locker Room: ‘Guys Don’t Feel Happy’ as Focus Intensifies

Despite being surrounded by scandal for much of last season, the Michigan Wolverines maintained positive energy throughout. They entered the 2023 season as one of the nation’s top teams and lived up to the hype, delivering a flawless season that culminated in a College Football Playoff National Championship — their first since sharing the title with Nebraska in 1997.

However, 2024 feels different. The program faces heightened NCAA scrutiny, with recent allegations threatening serious consequences. Additionally, several key players and staff members, including head coach Jim Harbaugh, who is now leading the Los Angeles Chargers, have moved on to the NFL.

Most notably, Michigan suffered its first home loss since the 2019 regular-season finale against Ohio State. This defeat wasn’t just a close game but a resounding loss to the No. 3 Texas Longhorns, who outclassed the Wolverines.

As a result, new head coach Sherrone Moore has noticed a shift in the atmosphere within the team. Michigan needs to recover quickly, and their upcoming game against Arkansas State presents an opportunity. However, the challenges don’t end there, as No. 11 USC looms next on the schedule.

With the new Big Ten and expanded 12-team College Football Playoff format, the Wolverines still have a path to the playoffs, provided they can rebound from the Texas loss.
