In last October’s Monday night win over the 49ers, Jordan Addison had a standout performance with a career-high 123 yards and two touchdowns, helping the Vikings secure an upset victory without star receiver Justin Jefferson.
This Sunday, the Vikings will have Jefferson back for their game against the 49ers. However, they’ll be without Addison, who has been ruled out after missing his third consecutive practice due to a right ankle injury sustained last week against the Giants. Coach Kevin O’Connell noted that Addison is progressing well in rehab but was unsure if he would be ready for Week 3 against the Texans.
In Addison’s absence, the Vikings plan to activate Trishton Jackson from the practice squad. Jackson impressed during preseason, leading the team with nine receptions for 154 yards and a touchdown, and earned his spot on the roster.
“We have full confidence in him,” O’Connell said. “He’s proven he deserves to be here, and it’s reassuring to have him step up in situations like this. Sam [Darnold] and the staff trust him, but we’ll miss Jordan, who had a great game against the 49ers last year with some key plays. We’ll need others to step up in his place.”
In addition, three players—guard Ed Ingram, right tackle Brian O’Neill, and safety Harrison Smith—are listed as questionable. Ingram sustained a triceps injury that surfaced on Thursday but practiced in a limited capacity Friday. O’Neill is dealing with an elbow injury, while Smith, who returned to practice Friday after a hip issue, is expected to play despite being limited.
