Tom Brady made his broadcasting debut during the opening weekend of the 2024-25 NFL season, but the feedback was mixed.
The legendary former Michigan Wolverine and New England Patriot, widely regarded as the greatest NFL quarterback of all time, took on the role of lead color commentator for Fox Sports last Sunday, joining Kevin Burkhardt. Brady is also slated to be part of the broadcast team for Super Bowl LIX.
Brady’s contract with Fox spans 10 years and $375 million.
However, his first outing in the broadcasting booth seemed to overshadow the game itself, which saw the Dallas Cowboys defeat the Cleveland Browns 33-17.
It was evident that Brady, lacking television experience, was nervous. He had difficulty completing sentences and experienced several awkward pauses. He improved as the game progressed, but, as is often the case, the internet was quick to comment.
Brady will be calling the Saints-Cowboys game at 1:00 p.m. ET on Sunday.
In a discussion on his YouTube show with former teammate Julian Edelman, Brady admitted that preparing for the game was exhausting but the actual broadcast was thrilling. He believes that with more experience, he will only improve.
“It was certainly a lot of fun, and there are definitely things to work on. It’s all part of the learning process,” Brady said. “I felt like I was doing what I should be doing and I know it will get better.”
