Michigan State football Top Starting Cornerback To Miss Season Amid Severe Injury. Another week, another season-ending injury for Michigan State football.
Just as it seemed Michigan State might dodge significant injuries leading up to the season opener, the Spartans were hit hard by the injury bug. Dillon Tatum, Khalil Majeed, and Alante Brown all went down in the opener against FAU, with Jonathan Smith indicating that each might miss the rest of the season. This dealt severe blows to the team’s depth in the defensive backfield and at receiver.
The misfortune continued in Week 1, with Michigan State revealing that Kristian Phillips and Chance Rucker are likely out for the rest of the regular season due to injuries sustained at Maryland. While there’s a possibility Rucker could return in as few as six weeks, it still means he’ll miss a significant portion of the season.
After sitting out the Prairie View A&M game, Jaron Glover is uncertain for the Boston College matchup in Week 4, though there’s hope he’ll be back soon. His return is crucial, as he’s a key offensive weapon. However, the injury issues don’t end there. Phillips’ replacement at right guard, Gavin Broscious, also suffered a likely season-ending leg injury.
In total, that makes six players potentially sidelined for the entire season within the first three weeks. This doesn’t even include the “minor” injuries affecting players like Glover, Montorie Foster Jr., Caleb Coley, Avery Dunn, Ben Roberts, and others.
