Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Wilson, initially named the starter, has missed the first two games due to a calf injury. In his absence, Fields has led the team to two victories, sparking debate on who should start when Wilson recovers.
While some argue Wilson deserves a chance, others believe Fields has earned the right to continue as starter. Steelers legend Ben Roethlisberger, initially supporting Wilson, now advocates for Fields after the team’s 2-0 start.
“Fields isn’t turning the ball over, and the team is winning,” Roethlisberger said. “Unless Wilson brings something significantly different, I’d stick with Fields.” Wilson’s return remains uncertain, with reports suggesting he may not be healthy until Week 4. The Steelers’ strong defense has been the team’s backbone in 2024.
