Rutgers has battled injuries through the first three weeks of the season, but they’re not the only team facing challenges.

This Saturday, the Scarlet Knights head to Blacksburg to face Virginia Tech. While the Hokies are riding a two-game winning streak, they’re also grappling with injury issues.

“We’ve got eight or nine guys who are questionable or limited today,” said Virginia Tech head coach Brent Pry as they prepare for Week 4.

Much like Rutgers, Virginia Tech’s defense has taken a hit. Pry mentioned key players who remain uncertain for the week.

“We’ll see how things go in the next two days,” Pry said. “Xavier (Chaplin) only played two snaps before coming out again. He’s limited, and so are Ali (Jennings), Bhayshul (Tuten), Keli (Lawson). Will Johnson and Nick Gallo are still out, and Jalen Stroman is out.”

Tight end Nick Gallo is recovering from an ACL tear, and junior linebacker Will Johnson is also sidelined.

Despite relying on depth, the Hokies hope to have some players back for the Rutgers matchup.

“George Ballanace couldn’t play Saturday,” Pry added. “We’ve got depth issues at linebacker with (Ezekiel) Wimbush and Brody Meadows also banged up. We need to get some guys healthy this week.”
