The Caleb Williams era with the Chicago Bears has had a bumpy start. While the Bears are 1-1 going into Week 3 of the 2024 NFL season, they owe much of their success to their defense and special teams for avoiding a winless start.
Chicago’s Week 2 game against the Houston Texans featured several interesting storylines, the most prominent being the matchup between Caleb Williams, the No. 1 pick of this year’s draft, and C.J. Stroud, the 2023 No. 2 overall pick.
Despite holding Stroud and the Texans’ offense to just 19 points, the Bears came up short, losing 19-13. It was a tough outing for Williams, who completed 23 of 37 passes for 174 yards, no touchdowns, and two interceptions.
After the game, a viral clip showed Stroud offering advice to Williams, though the Bears’ quarterback didn’t seem too receptive. Stroud addressed the moment with reporters on Wednesday, clarifying that he wasn’t “little bro’ing” Williams while giving him a post-game pep talk. According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC2, Stroud mentioned that he didn’t feel disrespected by Williams’ reaction, noting the rookie was just frustrated with the loss.
#Texans C.J. Stroud emphasized strongly that he was not 'little bro' ing #Bears Caleb Williams whom he has a ton of respect for adding that Williams was just upset that he didn't win the game and is a competitive guy. He wishes him all the success @KPRC2 pic.twitter.com/FCtl7YXd22

Stroud also shared that many players gave him advice during his rookie season, and he’s now trying to pay it forward in his second year.
While Williams is struggling early in his NFL career, Stroud has found his footing, leading the Texans to the playoffs and an 11-6 record as a starter. So far this season, Stroud has completed 69.1% of his passes for 494 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions in two games.
As Williams continues to search for his first NFL touchdown pass, it might be wise for the former USC star to consider the advice Stroud is offering.
