With Ozzie Albies back in the lineup last night, the Braves had a prime chance to gain ground in the Wild Card race, especially with the Mets losing to the Phillies. However, the Marlins quickly took a 3-0 lead in the first inning, and despite several chances to tie the game, Atlanta came up just short, losing by one run. They now sit two games behind New York with only eight games left.
Time is running out for Atlanta. With each passing day, their postseason hopes dim, making it increasingly likely they’ll miss the playoffs for the first time since 2017. This is particularly frustrating, as a few key players could potentially return in time for October if the Braves manage to secure a spot.
Manager Brian Snitker shared that Austin Riley is scheduled for a CT scan on his fractured wrist Monday, which will determine if he can have his cast removed.
Austin Riley is due for a CT scan Monday, and the result could dictate whether he can get his cast off. You know Riley — he’s hoping to be back in time for the postseason, should the Braves make it. The fracture was to the base of his hamate on his right hand.

Riley’s chances of returning before the playoffs are slim, but he could potentially be available for a Wild Card series if the Braves can finish the season strong in his absence.
In addition to Riley, Reynaldo López is also aiming to return soon, as he works through some shoulder soreness.

Riley is unlikely to return before the playoffs, but there’s a strong chance he could be ready for a potential Wild Card series if the Braves manage to close out the season on a high note.
Meanwhile, Reynaldo López is also eyeing a return as he recovers from shoulder soreness.
