Jets faces major setback as top star quarterback suffers serious injury

Aaron Rodgers, the quarterback for the New York Jets, downplayed injury concerns after appearing to limp during the fourth quarter against the Denver Broncos. Following a close 10-9 loss, he acknowledged, “Yeah, I’m banged up a little bit,” but maintained that he did not sustain any serious injuries.

Jets head coach Robert Saleh quickly alleviated worries about Rodgers, noting that his condition was due to typical wear and tear, especially after Rodgers’ season was cut short last year by a torn Achilles just four plays into the 2023 season. Saleh confirmed that Rodgers is doing fine.

Nonetheless, Saleh did point out issues with the team’s offense, particularly attributing some false start penalties to Rodgers’ cadence during a challenging game. Many skeptical Jets fans, however, are not fully convinced by this reassessment, with social media buzzing with concerns such as, “Is Aaron Rodgers okay? Looks like he isn’t.”

The injury alarm heightened in the final minutes when Rodgers was seen limping after being sacked for a six-yard loss by Denver’s linebacker Jonah Elliss and defensive tackle Malcolm Roach. Initially ruled a fumble, it was later determined that Rodgers was down by contact. Despite the pressure, he finished the game with 225 passing yards on 42 attempts.

Rodgers faced relentless pressure, with the Jets’ offensive line allowing five sacks. The Jets managed to accumulate 248 offensive yards compared to Denver’s 186, but it wasn’t enough to clinch a win.

Reflecting on the game, Coach Saleh said, “We had a great week of prep. Felt great energy pregame and even at halftime,” but he admitted, “The reality is it was going to be tough sledding due to the rain. What was disappointing were the self-inflicted wounds.”
