Breaking News: Seahawks Blew Out the chance to sign $36 Million Superstar Quarterback

Seattle had the resources to trade up for C.J. Stroud, including the No. 20 pick to offer to the Texans. However, they opted to select cornerback Devon Witherspoon at No. 5 and wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba at No. 20. While the Seahawks seem satisfied with their choices, franchise quarterbacks are rare.

Stroud went on to lead the Texans to an unexpected playoff run in his rookie season and earned a Pro Bowl selection. Meanwhile, Geno Smith could still prove to be a franchise quarterback under offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb’s new system.

Smith has started strong with the Seahawks’ new coaching staff, amassing 787 passing yards, 3 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions while completing 74.8% of his passes over the first three games.

It leaves us wondering what might have been. Here’s what Stroud said about his meeting with the Seahawks:

“They liked the way I can process through plays, my football IQ, and how I can quickly go through my reads and recall information,” Stroud explained at the time. “They taught me three plays and some protections, and I knocked it out of the park. It was good for them to see how I can apply it on the field.”
