BREAKING NEWS: Patriots Sign Multi-Million Dollar Blockbuster Deal With Top MVP Star

Mathematically, the first quarter of the NFL’s 17-game regular season isn’t quite finished yet. However, since Jerod Mayo used this term during a media call on Monday, we’ll adopt it to assess the current status of the New England Patriots after four games.

These four games indicate that Mayo’s team is likely heading toward another high draft pick. With a 1-3 record following Sunday’s 30-13 defeat to the San Francisco 49ers, they are among ten teams currently with a losing record.

Taking the strength of schedule tiebreaker into account, the Patriots are positioned to select third overall in the 2025 NFL Draft.

NFL Draft order: Week 4

A lot can change as the season progresses; a team’s performance at this point doesn’t guarantee how it will fare later on. However, the early trends provide insights worth noting.

This is especially true for the Patriots, who seem to be heading in the wrong direction. After starting the season with an upset victory over the Cincinnati Bengals, they’ve lost three consecutive games to the Seattle Seahawks, New York Jets, and 49ers.

Compounding the issue, their offense appears stagnant, and the defense has struggled as well. As a result, New England currently looks like one of the league’s weakest teams, reflected in their position near the top of the draft board.

That said, Week 5 could bring some changes: the Patriots will face a 1-3 Miami Dolphins team at Gillette Stadium that hasn’t performed much better this season.
