Roughly 19 months after leading the Eagles to the Super Bowl and nearly 10 months after they boasted a 10-1 record, Nick Sirianni now finds himself under pressure. Despite an offseason that saw changes to both offensive and defensive coordinators, the Eagles’ head coach in his fourth year is facing scrutiny with the team at .500 in Philadelphia.
The spotlight on Sirianni has intensified.
As the Eagles enter their bye week with a 2-2 record this season and just 3-8 overall (including playoffs) since their December loss to San Francisco, calls for his firing have grown louder, especially on talk radio and social media. The team’s late-season collapse last year raised doubts among the fan base about Sirianni’s future. However, despite the heated speculation following the Eagles’ NFC wild-card playoff exit, there was no indication of concern within the organization. Owner Jeffrey Lurie and general manager Howie Roseman stood by Sirianni, even with former Patriots coach Bill Belichick available, though no other team pursued him.
When asked about his job security during an interview on 94WIP, Sirianni remained unfazed.
“My focus is on improving the team,” he said.
