Any notion that Sam Darnold’s current run is about to end or that the team will finish 8-9 is just flat-out wrong, according to Eisen. He believes the Vikings are the real deal this season and has the story to back it up.
During his time with the team, Eisen spent some time around Darnold and noticed the quarterback’s focus on the journey rather than the final result.

He also emphasizes the intelligence of head coach Kevin O’Connell, who has surrounded himself with a sharp coaching staff and players with a high football IQ.
One standout example is wide receiver Justin Jefferson. In a story O’Connell shared, not long after taking the Vikings job following his Super Bowl win in Los Angeles, he had a FaceTime call with Jefferson.
On the call, Jefferson asked, “Why is Cooper Kupp always wide open?” O’Connell explained that Kupp knew every route in the playbook, which allowed them to position him anywhere on the field.
