Huge Report: Seattle Seahawks get reinforcements ahead of Giants game

The Seattle Seahawks’ injury report looks much improved this week after missing several key defensive players in their Monday night loss to the Detroit Lions. Only rookie defensive tackle Byron Murphy II has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the New York Giants due to a hamstring injury. Returning to the lineup will be defensive end Leonard Williams and linebackers Jerome Baker and Uchenna Nwosu.

Williams missed last week’s game with a rib injury, Baker has been sidelined for two weeks with a hamstring issue, and Nwosu has been out since the preseason finale with a knee sprain. Head coach Mike Macdonald mentioned a few players are still questionable but expressed optimism about their progress.

Linebacker Boye Mafe (knee) and safety Julian Love (thigh) are also listed as questionable, though Love expects to play against his former team. Love sustained a thigh injury during the Detroit game, while Mafe has been dealing with a lingering knee issue.

Seattle Seahawks LB Jerome Baker Questionable to Return vs. Patriots

Any players not listed on the final injury report are expected to play, though Macdonald expressed some uncertainty about Nwosu’s status. Despite this, Nwosu told ESPN’s Brady Henderson that he feels ready to return after a long recovery.

If Nwosu and Williams both play, it will mark the first time the former USC teammates will take the field together for Seattle. Williams, who was traded from the Giants last year, is eager to face his former team and make a statement on the field.

Additionally, nose tackle Cameron Young returned to practice this week after being activated from the physically unable to perform (PUP) list. However, he won’t play on Sunday. Head coach Macdonald praised Young’s hard work and believes he’ll be ready to contribute when the time comes.

Linebacker Tyrice Knight missed two practices due to personal reasons but is expected to play on Sunday. He’ll likely return to his backup role, with Baker set to play for the first time since Week 2. Macdonald commended Knight’s perseverance and assured that he will be ready for the game.
