Jets Disreputably Fires Coach Hackett Amid Secret Scandals Hours After Former Coach’s Exit
Despite the major shake-up with the head coaching change, the New York Jets have decided not to make any additional changes to their coaching staff for now.
Just hours after the Jets and owner Woody Johnson announced the firing of head coach Robert Saleh due to a disappointing 2-3 start, many analysts speculated about potential shifts in the offensive staff, particularly regarding play-caller Nathaniel Hackett. However, as reported by Dianna Russini of The Athletic, no further changes will be made.
Currently, New York ranks 27th in offensive performance and has one of the least efficient units, which is surprising given that Aaron Rodgers is at the helm. Rodgers has faced pressure 34 times in the last two games—losses to the Denver Broncos and Minnesota Vikings—raising questions about the future of offensive line coach Keith Carter.
However, Johnson is focusing on changing the messaging and leadership from the top, which means the offensive staff that arguably contributed to Saleh’s dismissal will remain intact for the time being.
