ECU General Manager Provides Prodigious Report on Top Starter`s Future

After the coaching change at Michigan State during the last offseason, many players faced difficult choices about whether to stay or transfer.

The entire quarterback group, which included Sam Leavitt, Noah Kim, and Katin Houser, opted to enter the transfer portal, especially after Jonathan Smith planned to bring his own quarterback to East Lansing.

Leavitt transferred to Arizona State, where he impressed enough to earn the starting job, though he is currently injured. Kim did not secure the starting position at Coastal Carolina, which was disappointing. Meanwhile, Houser lost his starting battle at East Carolina to fellow former four-star recruit Jake Garcia.

Currently, Kim is the backup at Coastal Carolina, while Houser got his first start for East Carolina against Army on Saturday. Unfortunately, the Black Knights proved to be a tough challenge, leading 24-0 at halftime and extending the score to 31-0 early in the second half. By halftime, Houser had completed 10 of 17 passes for 60 yards with one interception.

Houser took over as the starter after Garcia struggled, throwing just eight touchdowns against 12 interceptions. He did throw his first touchdown of the season in the third quarter on a 53-yard pass, bringing the score to 31-7.

If Houser continues to show improvement, he is likely to retain the starting quarterback position next week, which would be a positive outcome for the former Spartan.
