Last-Minute Injury Update on Georgia’s Star Player
Heading into Georgia football’s clash with No. 1 Texas, there was optimism that veteran offensive lineman Tate Ratledge would be fit to play. While it seemed he was making progress, it now appears he will be sidelined once more.
Tate Ratledge sprained his ankle during Georgia’s victory over Kentucky and has yet to return to the field. After the Bulldogs’ win against Mississippi State last week, Kirby Smart provided an update on Ratledge’s recovery, indicating he’s making progress.
“He’s much closer,” Smart said on Saturday. “He’s running on dry land and pushing himself. He has a custom-made brace, and we’re hopeful for his recovery.”
CBS Sports reported that Ratledge could be utilized in an emergency during the Texas game if necessary. However, it might be wiser to keep him out to avoid risking further injury, especially in such a high-stakes matchup.

It’s also worth noting that Georgia has a bye week following the Texas game, giving Ratledge an additional two weeks to recover before the final stretch of the season. This should provide ample time for him to regain full health.
It’s certainly disappointing to see Ratledge sidelined, as he’s one of Georgia’s top offensive linemen. Missing the two biggest games of the season against Alabama and Texas is tough for both him and the team.
Fans can only hope for a better outcome against Texas than the one against Alabama. A win would create significant excitement for the program heading into the bye week, especially with the prospect of Ratledge returning for the next game.
