Lions’ Dan Campbell Unveils Game Plan for 23-Year-Old Star After 2-Game Suspension

Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams is gearing up to return to action after serving a two-game suspension for using performance-enhancing substances. Head coach Dan Campbell shared the team’s plan for Williams’ reintegration once he’s cleared to hit the field again.

Campbell confirmed that the dynamic, speedy receiver will be back in the lineup for Detroit’s Sunday night game against the Houston Texans. Although Williams was sidelined from on-field practice during his suspension, Campbell emphasized that the young receiver has remained committed to staying sharp.

He’s been here, Campbell said. “He couldn’t be on the field, but he’s been training, running, and attending meetings. He’s been fully involved. Now, we’re throwing him back in there. Let’s go.

While concerns have emerged over Williams’ off-field decisions and how they might impact his future in the NFL, Campbell is confident that Williams has learned from the experience and will continue to grow.

I think he’s become more aware of the situation over time,” Campbell said. “For me, I judge people by what’s in their heart. I know what this kid’s made of. He’s worth sticking with. He’ll learn from this and come out better for it.

So far in the 2024 season, Williams has appeared in six games, tallying 17 catches for 361 yards and three touchdowns. His last game was a narrow 31-29 victory over the Minnesota Vikings on October 20, where he registered a single catch for -4 yards.

Fans are eager to see how Williams will contribute when the Lions face the Texans on Sunday, November 10, at 8:20 p.m. ET in NRG Stadium.
