Rams agree to terms on trade sending CB Tre’Davious White to Ravens
WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. –The Rams have reached a trade agreement with the Ravens that will send cornerback Tre’Davious White to Baltimore.
White, who signed a one-year deal with the Rams during free agency earlier this year, started Los Angeles’ first four games. Over that stretch, he recorded 12 total tackles and 2 passes defensed before being made a healthy scratch for the last four games. During that period, the Rams stuck with the same rotation of cornerbacks, and head coach Sean McVay confirmed last week that they planned to maintain that lineup barring any unforeseen circumstances like injuries.
McVay had noted that White ended up playing more snaps early in the season than originally expected due to injuries at the position. White had been recovering from a season-ending knee injury suffered in Week 4 of the previous season with the Buffalo Bills.
The Rams coach repeatedly praised White for his professionalism throughout the situation.
“He’s been a great player in this league, and I can’t say enough about how he’s handled himself—as a man, a leader, a player, and a mentor,” McVay said on Oct. 28. “It just hasn’t gone the way we all hoped.”
Now, White will get a fresh start in Baltimore, where he’ll have the chance to compete more regularly.
Rams general manager Les Snead spoke on the move, saying, “We wanted to find a win-win situation for both sides. We could have kept him as an insurance policy, but given our relationship with Tre, we wanted to do what’s best for him. Baltimore is in need of a veteran, and this will give Tre an opportunity to contribute there.”
