White, who signed a one-year contract with Los Angeles earlier this year, started the first four games of the season, recording 12 tackles and two passes defensed. However, he was made inactive for the Rams’ last four games as a healthy scratch. During that time, the Rams maintained the same group of cornerbacks in their rotation, and head coach Sean McVay stated last week that they would continue with that approach unless unexpected situations, such as injuries, arose.

McVay mentioned last week that White had played more snaps than originally planned due to injuries in the cornerback group. White was coming off a knee injury that had sidelined him for the remainder of the previous season with the Bills after Week 4.

Throughout this period, McVay commended White for his professionalism. “The guy wants to compete, and I can understand that. He’s been a great player in this league,” McVay said on Oct. 28. “I can’t say enough about how he’s handled himself as a player, a leader, a mentor, and a man. It just hasn’t gone the way any of us would have liked so far.”

White will now have the chance to compete with the Ravens.

Rams general manager Les Snead explained the rationale behind the trade: “From the human side of things, we wanted to find a win-win for both us and Tre. Obviously, we could have kept him as insurance in case of an emergency, but because of our relationship with him, we wanted to do what’s best for both sides. Baltimore needs a veteran to help strengthen their secondary, and this gives him an opportunity to get back on the field.”
