According to sources speaking with PennLive, one key requirement is that Trice must be able to run at least 20 miles per hour to prove his hamstring is up to full strength. Recent scans indicate the injury, a grade 2 strain suffered against the Los Angeles Chargers, is nearly healed.

The Steelers will continue to assess Trice’s progress, and once he hits the necessary milestones, they will open his practice window. Sources suggest he could be ready to return as soon as next week for the game against the Baltimore Ravens.

The team plans to bring Trice back as a top backup behind starters Joey Porter Jr. and Donte Jackson. Pittsburgh was impressed with his development prior to the injury and is eager to have him back as a key contributor to their secondary.
