Steelers Get Key Players back from IR for Commanders Showdown, The Pittsburgh Steelers have fought their way to an impressive 6-2 record, securing the top spot in the AFC North despite a string of injuries to key players early in the season. Quarterback Russell Wilson is now healthy and has been delivering strong performances, leading the team to several victories. As Pittsburgh gears up for their upcoming matchup with the revitalized Washington Commanders, the team gets a significant boost with the return of two players from injured reserve.
Linebacker Tyler Matakevich and wide receiver Ben Skowronek were both activated from the reserve/injured list on Saturday, and with no game designation for Sunday, they’re set to play. Matakevich, who’s been sidelined since Week 2 with a hamstring injury, has fully recovered and is ready to go after his 21-day practice window was opened in Week 8. The Temple product, originally drafted by the Steelers in the seventh round of the 2016 draft, returns to Pittsburgh after spending four seasons with the Buffalo Bills.
Skowronek, who was added to the Steelers’ practice squad in late August after being waived by the Houston Texans, had been moved to the active roster on September 17 before a shoulder injury landed him on injured reserve. With both players now available, the Steelers will look to leverage their added depth as they take on the Commanders.
