Falcons Without 8 Key Players For Sunday’s Showdown with Broncos
The Atlanta Falcons will be shorthanded for their Sunday matchup against the Denver Broncos, as eight players have been ruled out due to injury. The defense will take a significant hit, with cornerback Mike Hughes (neck), nickelback Dee Alford (hamstring), and backup nickel . (pectoral) all sidelined.
Inside linebacker Troy Andersen (knee) will miss his second straight game after aggravating a previous knee injury, while rookie linebacker JD Bertrand (concussion) will be out for the third consecutive week.
The defensive line will also be depleted, with Ta’Quon Graham (pectoral) and James Smith-Williams (tibia) both unavailable. Graham and Smith-Williams have been key contributors, with Smith-Williams starting five of the Falcons’ 10 games this season.
Tight end Charlie Woerner (concussion) will also be unavailable for the Falcons’ game against the Denver Broncos.
On a brighter note, the Falcons caught some good news as well. Wide receiver Darnell Mooney (Achilles tendon) was taken off the injury report, and center Drew Dalman is set to return after missing the last seven games due to an ankle injury.
In other positive updates, quarterback Kirk Cousins, who had been nursing a sore shoulder and elbow, was cleared to play after practicing without any issues on Thursday and Friday.
