Kalen DeBoer commends Morgan’s collaboration, highlighting the impact of adding five-star prospects

Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer encourages his team as Auburn Tigers take on Alabama Crimson Tide at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Ala., on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024. Alabama Crimson Tide defeated Auburn Tigers 28-14.

Alabama football is off to an impressive start in recruiting under first-year head coach Kalen DeBoer and general manager Courtney Morgan. As of the first day of the early signing period, the Crimson Tide boasts the No. 2 signing class in the nation, according to both the 247Sports Composite and On3 rankings. Texas holds the top spot on both sites.

In the 247Sports Composite, Georgia ranks third, followed by Oregon at fourth and Ohio State at fifth. On On3, Oregon is third, Georgia fourth, and Ohio State fifth.

DeBoer praised the collaboration between Morgan, who joined him from Washington, and Bob Welton, Alabama’s director of player personnel who remained from Nick Saban’s staff.

“Courtney Morgan, as general manager, has done an outstanding job,” DeBoer said. “He and Bob Welton have meshed well, integrating our past success with the vision we’re building for the future. That cohesion among the staff has been essential to assembling this class.”

On Wednesday, Alabama signed 21 players, including several five-star prospects such as quarterback Keelon Russell, cornerback Dijon Lee, and offensive lineman Michael Carroll.

While the rankings aren’t final, it’s evident that Alabama is set to finish with a top-tier class, reaffirming that elite recruiting remains intact even without Saban at the helm.
