Brandin Cooks has been eager to return to action, and it looks like he’ll get his chance on Thursday. The Dallas Cowboys activated the wide receiver from the injured list on Wednesday, and he’s expected to play when the team faces the New York Giants on Thanksgiving Day.
Cooks has missed the last seven games due to a knee infection that developed after a procedure. His last appearance was in the Cowboys’ 20-15 victory over the Giants in Week 4. Since then, Cooks has been sidelined for two months.
The Cowboys (4-7) look different from the team Cooks last played for. Their 34-26 win over the Washington Commanders last week ended a five-game losing streak and kept their slim playoff hopes alive. On Thursday, Cooks will be catching passes from Cooper Rush, who will start his fourth straight game after Dak Prescott underwent season-ending hamstring surgery earlier this month.
Cooks had a slow start to the 2024 season, with only nine catches for 91 yards and a touchdown in his first four games. The 11-year veteran, who has surpassed 1,000 receiving yards in six seasons, will be a free agent after this season. A strong finish could boost his value on the open market.
