Thursday was a milestone day for Seattle Seahawks edge rusher Uchenna Nwosu. Not only was he named the team’s nominee for the prestigious Walter Payton Man of the Year Award, but he was also activated from injured reserve. After weeks of practice, Nwosu is set to return to game action for the first time since Week 5.
Nwosu’s season has been plagued by injuries, limiting him to just one half of a game since Week 7 of 2023. He suffered a torn pectoral muscle last season, followed by a knee injury in this year’s preseason that sidelined him for the first four games. A groin injury in Week 5 further delayed his return. Meanwhile, Seattle’s defense, which showed signs of struggle earlier, has significantly improved over the past four games.
Now, the Seahawks face a decision: how to reintegrate Nwosu into a rotation that has performed well with Derick Hall, Boye Mafe, and Dre’Mont Jones. While Nwosu is a reliable two-way player when healthy, rust from his extended absence might limit his initial impact and playing time.
