Brent Venables gives interesting update on Oklahoma’s 2025 OL signees

Oklahoma’s offensive line struggles this season have been evident, ranking third-worst in the nation for sacks allowed, with 46 surrendered over the regular season. To address this critical need, the Sooners made a significant move on Early National Signing Day, adding five offensive linemen to their 2025 signing class.

The new additions include Darius Afalava, Michael Fasusi, Ryan Fodje, Owen Hollenbeck, and Sean Hutton. Among them, Fasusi stands out as the star recruit. The five-star offensive tackle from Lewisville, Texas, is ranked as the top prospect in the group. At 6-foot-5 and 290 pounds, Fasusi possesses the size and skill to potentially contribute immediately, even in Oklahoma’s bowl game.

Afalava and Fodje are four-star recruits, while Hollenbeck is a three-star prospect. Hutton, a preferred walk-on, also played alongside Fasusi at Lewisville. Together, this group brings much-needed size and strength, averaging 305 pounds, to prepare Oklahoma for SEC competition. Notably, Hollenbeck is the heaviest at 340 pounds, while Fodje, despite being 6-foot-5, is the lightest at 275 pounds.

With Oklahoma’s offensive line struggling this season, offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh will likely continue to explore the transfer portal for immediate help. However, head coach Brent Venables is confident the incoming freshmen can make an immediate impact.

“This group overall is powerful, athletic, incredibly physical, and tough,” Venables said during his signing day press conference. “These are mature guys who believe they can step into a talented young group of linemen and make us better. There are no developmental projects here—these guys can play football for us right away once they learn the system.”

With their talent and physicality, Oklahoma’s 2025 offensive line class could be a key factor in addressing the team’s needs up front.
