‘Dude Is Arguing With a Duck’: Colorado Football’s Deion Sanders Jr. Under Attack By Fans Following Odd Tweet

The Colorado Buffaloes wrapped up a successful 2024 season, earning a spot in a prestigious bowl game. Just two years after a one-win season and following a 4-8 record, the team finished fourth in the Big 12, securing nine wins and featuring potential Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter, a dynamic two-way player. Despite sportsbooks heavily favoring Hunter, not everyone is convinced about his groundbreaking season, including fans, analysts, and even mascots.

On Thursday, Oregon’s mascot, “The Duck,” appeared on The Pat McAfee Show and took a jab at Hunter, saying, “Snaps ain’t a stat though.” Deion Sanders Jr., son of Colorado head coach Deion Sanders and brother of quarterback Shedeur Sanders, responded to the Big Ten mascot’s comment. However, his reaction sparked criticism from college football fans, who questioned why he chose to engage with a mascot.

On Thursday, the Oregon Ducks mascot stirred controversy by criticizing Colorado football star Travis Hunter and his Heisman Trophy campaign. Hunter, a two-way standout and the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year, earned first-team all-conference honors on both offense and defense. His incredible stats include 92 receptions for 1,152 yards, 14 receiving touchdowns, a rushing touchdown, 32 tackles, 11 passes defended, and three interceptions, solidifying his position as the favorite for the Heisman Trophy.

Despite his remarkable season, the Ducks mascot, known as “The Duck,” went viral on social media for dismissing Hunter’s Heisman credentials. The comments prompted a response from Deion Sanders Jr., son of Colorado head coach Deion Sanders. However, many fans sided with the mascot, arguing that Boise State’s star running back Ashton Jeanty, not Hunter, is more deserving of the Heisman Trophy.

Jeanty should win the Heisman though.

Doesn’t mean Hunter isn’t good.

You’re pressed over a mascot….

And hey, get this. It’s a football show and they’re talking about football. I thought all the Sanders’ loved publicity?
